Bandits wielding lethal weapons are said to have stormed many localities in Katsina State, kidnapping many people during coordinated night raids.
Eyewitnesses confirmed on Tuesday that the attacks occurred on Monday night, after heavily armed bandits stormed the afflicted villages, working for hours and wreaking havoc on the residents.
According to security sources, the terrorists initially targeted Unguwar Alhaji Barau before moving on to Gidan Dan Mai-gizo and Gidan Hazo communities in Na'alma Ward, Malumfashi Local Government Area, Katsina State.
While security personnel have yet to publish an official statement regarding the incident, the exact number of casualties and abducted individuals is unknown.
Abubakar Sadiq, spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, was ignorant of the recent attack. He did, however, pledge to find out and respond in due course.
Malumfashi is a frontline local government council in Katsina, where bandit attacks are on the rise. This is despite recent peace deals reached between local officials and armed groups operating in the area.
During the incident, armed bandits invaded a mosque in Unguwar Mantau Community, Malumfashi Local Government Area, Katsina State, opening fire on worshippers and killing at least 32.
