Nigeria Dominates US Crude Imports: Africa’s Oil Powerhouse in 2025
According to a statement issued on Tuesday via the official X handle of the US Mission in Nigeria, the country accounted for more than half of all African crude oil exports to the US between January and August 2025.
According to the statement, Nigeria exported 33.23 million barrels of oil worth $2.57 billion during this time period.
The statement reads, “#DidYouKnow that Nigeria was the leading African exporter of crude oil to the United States between January and August 2025, shipping 33.23 million barrels worth $2.57 billion? That’s more than half of all African crude oil exports to the United States during that period.”

As previously reported, the United States Embassy in Nigeria recognized five Nigerian content producers for outstanding contributions in the 'Made in America, Loved in Nigeria' video contest, which celebrates innovation while improving cultural and economic relations between the two countries.
The winners were honoured on Wednesday in Abuja at an event hosted by the US Consulate to highlight the expanding importance of Nigerian digital artists and the long-standing friendship between Nigeria and the United States.
