Aminu Tambuwal, former governor of Sokoto State and senator representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, has urged residents of the area to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies in the ongoing efforts to rid the country of terrorists, ensuring that innocent citizens are adequately protected.
Tambuwal, in response to the Christmas Day US airstrikes against terrorists in parts of the state, including Jibo, where the strike reportedly occurred on Thursday night, stated that he was actively engaging relevant security authorities to obtain full details of the incident and ensure that all necessary safeguards were in place to protect innocent lives. In a statement posted on his X account on Friday, the senator urged community leaders, traditional institutions, and citizens to continue collaborating with security services by sharing credible information and rejecting falsehoods that could incite fear, conflict, or harm peace.
According to him, "I have observed allegations of an airstrike carried out as part of ongoing counterterrorism activities through collaboration between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the United States.I urge our communities to be calm and law-abiding until competent authorities explain the circumstances of the operation."
Tambuwal also promised the residents of Sokoto South that he would continue to work with relevant security authorities to acquire complete information of the occurrence and ensure that all essential protections were followed.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) leader also praised the military and other security forces' courage and professionalism, noting that they continue to work tirelessly, often in collaboration with international partners, to combat terrorism and banditry under extremely difficult conditions.
He stated that their sacrifice and devotion to restoring peace and stability earned the public's complete support and cooperation.
